Still Life of Onions, Vase and Tea Pot

This painting was painted last week plein air. I used Phthalo Blue instead of Ultramarine Blue and Cadmium Red Light instead of Alizarin Crimson. I also used Titanium White and Cadmium Yellow Light, all Gamblin Oil Paints. My Palette is based on John Phototschnick’s book, Limited Palette, Unlimited Color. He uses just three colors and white and mixes all the colors he needs. The 46 color combinations are demonstrated in this book. If you can work your way through his book, you will understand color.
